Today in the NYT there’s a piece about bloggers blogging til they drop and the impact of blogging on health. I’ve been asked numerous times since the article came out for comment and I’ve had a few random thoughts. Let me post them as a stream of consciousness type post:
For starters I think people in all occupations can get stressed and suffer from ill health. I’ve had friends pass away from and survive heart attacks who work in numerous fields - including blogging. I’m a little skeptical that blogging is any more stressful than other professions - yes it can be a pressure cooker of a job - but I wonder if it’s more about the person, the way …

Last week I ran a series with five tactics for promoting a blog that I’d use if I were starting out again in blogging. To finish it off I asked readers to submit their own blog promotion tips of things that I didn’t include. The comments left were great and I wanted to highlight a few that particularly caught my attention (comments in italics are mine):
1. Frugal Dad writes - “Here are some …

Elite Retreat is almost sold out and the more I hear about this year’s event the more I like it. They’ve just added Matt Mallenweg to the already amazing line up - they’ve got limo pickups for attendees, have a top notch dinner for the first night and Jeremy says that they’re giving speakers Macbook Air laptops (I wonder if they’ll give one to speakers from last year!?!). If you have the money - this is an amazing thing to get along to. I wrote more about it here.

This unit is currently in beta test but I’m told it’ll be released to all shortly. It’s an interactive ad unit which gives users of your blog the ability to actually interact with the ad. The ads are video based and have the ability for readers to leave comments, rating the ad, telling …
